We’ve been making nut and seed butters in our factory in North Wales for over 30 years so we know just how deliciously healthy they are.

Peanuts are high in protein (25% of their calories come from protein) perfect for maintaining a healthy diet.

By law peanut butter must be at least 90% peanuts but at Meridian, we cram in as many nuts as possible to ensure the true taste. Some of our nut butter products are made with 100% skin-on peanuts and nothing else.

cashews

FACT- Cashews are technically not a nut but the seed of the cashew apple, a tree that grows in tropical climates for example South America, India and Africa.

Cashews have a lower fat content than most other nuts and are rich in a number of different minerals.

They contain good levels of zinc which is important for healing, making stress hormones and managing hormones in general.

hazelnuts

A wonderful addition to many dessert recipes and crunchy salads, hazelnuts also make highly nutritious nut butter.

Hazelnuts are rich in Vitamin E, an anti-oxidant needed to protect cell membranes and skin, for good immunity and cardiovascular health.

Hazelnuts contain a number of B Vitamins that help promote proper cell development and energy metabolism.

These nuts are also a rich source of potassium, calcium and magnesium. The minerals provide many health benefits including regulating a healthy blood pressure.

Our range of Hazelnut butters just includes Crunchy Hazelnut.

sesame seeds

Sesame seeds are a good source of calcium, great for bone health. They also provide plenty of iron. In fact gram for gram they contain more iron than liver and so are a really good source of iron for vegetarians (although iron from plant sources is less easily absorbed than that from animal sources).

We make smooth pastes from our Light (hulled) & dark (unhulled) sesame to produce both Dark Tahini and Light Tahini. Try Dark Tahini as a cooking ingredient in sauces and dressings and in baking. Light Tahini is great as a spread or even as a dip. Mixed with Meridian Tamari it makes a great roasted meat accompaniment.

pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are a good source of the anti-oxidant Vitamin E – A 25g serving of pumpkin seeds will give you 60% of your recommended daily allowance of this vitamin.

Known to many as a great source of zinc, pumpkin butter on rice cakes makes a great snack if you are feeling tired, have low immunity or are trying to conceive.

Compared to other seeds, pumpkin seeds are rich in many minerals, in particular magnesium, copper, phosphorus, manganese and especially iron. Like sesame seeds it too has similar levels of iron to liver and so is a great source for vegetarians.

These seeds are a great source of Vitamin E, one of the body’s key fat-soluble antioxidants.
